May 2, 2005 This whole "going on vacation" is over-rated. The last month leading up to this break was absolute insanity as I rushed around trying to get everything in line in time to leave school and then rushed right down to work and haven't yet had chance to breathe. With all my other obligations and commitments I haven't even found time to unpack yet - not that there's anything wrong with living out of boxes - but sometimes it's nice not to. Oh well, they say that beggers can't be choosers. Personally I think they're bastards, but such is life. So the point to all this is that I hope soon to get this site back to life but that won't be until after IMG magazine is set off to an official launch. Check out imgmagazine.net for the latest going-ons on that front and be sure to contact me should you wish to contribute or help the cause. March 3, 2005 IMG – Happiness and the Pursuit of Art So what exactly is art? Your guess is as good as mine, perhaps even better. IMG Magazine aims to help define art, and to tear apart it's definitions. IMG will be a forum for artists, art lovers, critics, and Joe from down the street. The magazine will feature the work of illustrators, painters, photographers, writers, designers and any one else involved in the art scene, whether they work in digital or traditional mediums, students or working professionals. IMG doesn't care about names, it cares about talent. The content is 100% submission driven. All types of work will be welcomed regardless of style, medium, artists history, or the price of eggs in China. This makes it the perfect medium by which emerging talents can establish themselves and those already established can show why they got there. The format is to be modern and fun but clean enough so as to not distract from the works it features. Contributors are given space to include their biography, statement, random essays of whatever they wish alongside their works and are given considerable linkage to their homepages and emails so viewers can contact and learn more about those they admire. The goal of IMG is to build a community, not a profit. Issues are distributed freely on-line in Adobe PDF format which is universally viewable world wide on all computer platforms with free software. As such it is the perfect medium for budding talents to grow and get to know others who share common interests. Benefit to the artists and art community are paramount and as such no artist is asked to give up rights to their works. IMG is protected under a variation of the Creative Commons License which allows for free verbatim copies of the magazine to be made and distributed maximizing exposure, but the license forbids commercial uses or alterations in any way and requires that the work always be credited to the creator. A copy of the license can be viewed at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/ Anyone with any interest in IMG, whether as a contributor, a reader, or in some other form, is encouraged to contact Brandon McGregor by email at biff_pedachenko@hotmail.com. If you wish to be included in electronic mailings keeping you up to date on the latest developments at IMG, send a brief message to the same address to be added to our mailing list. Please pass this message on to anyone with any interest in the arts and let the community grow. February 27, 2005 And just like that, February was over. Yet my mind is still convinced that it's January, early January at that. Not that I mind of course, only one week of classes left before whisking away to the bike show (spring, it's coming, honest) and a week off. Or at least a week without classes anyways, I'll still be working - only for pay this time. So a few upcoming projects are in the works. Firstly, another server migration soon, so if anyone has a bookmark of this page make sure it points to biff-pedachenko.8m.net (Currently that page is just a redirect, so stop the load and bookmark it before redirect works its magic) The other plans that I hope will bear fruit soon is plans to post some wallpapers here for your viewing pleasure - or something like that. Perhaps the big plan though involves a new magazine. It will be Adobe .pdf based for online free distribution and covering art and designs in all their forms and whatever else happens to cross my desk and strike a fancy. Primarily I'm looking to illustration, photography, and poetry/short fiction but am not ruling out anything, so great designs, a little news, rants on the nature of cheese, or pretty much anything else is fair game. So if you feel you have anything to contribute, or witty suggestions for a name, contact me. Once I gather enough interest and support we'll get this thing underway. All contributors would of course be granted copious linkage to their homepages or emails. Also, if you haven't yet, take a stop by fotoRAM. It's just a little site I put together for my father to showcase some of his photography. Stop by, and feel free to comment, question, or dance a little jig. February 5, 2005 Today's show has been brought to you by the word 'FUBAR' My alarm clock decided to die last night and I got to start this day half an hour after I had been hoping to start an assignment, so I hop on the bike to get over there only to find that the rear brake has locked up. Okay, this isn't good, but I could still break down and take the bus - except it never did show up, and so I walk. And after only one and a half hours (making me officially two hours later than planned) I manage to make it up to the school only to find out that plans had changed and this was all for naught. At this point I decided spinning around in circles and bashing my head off the wall seemed a good idea. I managed to piece together enough for the shoot anyways and made some time to do some personal work on the back trails while I was up there. And if you'd like to take a look at the product of my spare time this week take a cruise over to this site. I put it together for my father to showcase some photos. It's not quite finished yet, we haven't put any text into it and the photo galleries aren't quite full yet, but all in good time. Take a look now and check back in a week or two when everything is up and running. January 31, 2005 So welcome to the new site. A little more eye candy, and a whole lot easier on me to update and maintain. I've added many more photos than the old version contained, as well as quite a bit more of my design work, but perhaps the most startling change is the new layout. Something new and different, and I must say I like it myself, let me know your thoughts. I also have to thank Don over at HTML FIX IT.com for his help in troubleshooting the new design and bringing it to life. Some of you may remember this page being a part of version one of this site that never went live, only to disappear soon after. But the phoenix shall rise. This is where you will find my random rants, upcoming events, and philosophies on the nature of life and cheese. Or something like that anyway. The plan is this should be updated on something resembling a regular basis, so stop by from time to time and see if it actually happens. So without further adieu, go forth, and discover all the wonders that is this new site and send me your thoughts, praise and criticism on the new way of things over here. Or don't. It's really up to you.
